Apart-Hotel Food Without a Restaurant: 5 Practical Models
How apart-hotels and guesthouses can offer food without a restaurant: partner kitchens, breakfast boxes, a small shop, ready meals and hygiene basics.
Room charges
Guests order the way they use the minibar: nothing to pay at the door, no card on the phone. Roomtray keeps a running list of delivered orders for each room, and reception settles it when the guest leaves.
An order becomes a charge only after it is delivered. Orders that were rejected or cancelled never reach the bill. The price is the one the guest saw at the moment of ordering, even if you changed the menu later that evening.
If you charge a service fee for room delivery, it is added to each order and shown on the bill as a separate line.
The Room charges page lists every room with unsettled orders: room number, guest, number of orders, total and the time of the oldest order. Open a room to see each order with its dishes.
Settled the wrong room? For 24 hours you can undo the settlement and the orders return to the room as unsettled. After that the record is closed, so the history of a stay does not change weeks later.
The hotel dashboard warns when delivered orders are waiting on rooms for a long time, so a guest does not leave with an unpaid dinner.
Payment happens at your reception, by card or in cash, together with the room. There is no payment provider in between and no commission on orders. Every euro from room service stays with the hotel.
No. The order goes on the room, and the guest pays at check-out with the rest of the stay. Roomtray does not process payments.
Not directly yet. Reception prints the bill from Roomtray and adds the total to the PMS or till as one line. That takes about a minute per room.
Each order shows when it was placed, who accepted it and when it was delivered. You can see the whole history before you settle the room.
Yes. Room charges and the printable bill are in both plans.
