A room service menu in the guest's own language

A guest from Vienna sees German, a guest from Kyiv sees Ukrainian, and your team writes the menu once. Roomtray picks the language of the phone and falls back to your main language when a translation is missing.

How the language is chosen

When the guest scans the QR code in the room, the menu reads the language settings of the phone. If that language is switched on for your hotel, the whole menu appears in it: categories, dishes, options, requests, opening hours and the order status.

The guest can switch the language at the top of the menu at any time. The choice is kept for the rest of the stay, so a couple sharing one room can each use their own phone in their own language.

Write once, translate with one click

You write dishes and descriptions in your main language. Roomtray creates the translations automatically, and you can open any line and correct it by hand. A corrected line stays as you wrote it and is not overwritten by the next automatic run.

Prices, photos, allergens and availability are shared by all languages. When you change a price or switch a dish off, every language changes at the same moment.

  • Free: 3 languages with automatic translation
  • Pro: all 26 languages, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Polish

What stays as you wrote it

Names of local specialities often work better in the original. You can keep "Svíčková" or "Kaiserschmarrn" as the dish name and let the description explain it in the guest's language. Brand names, wine names and prices are never translated.

If a translation is missing for a dish, the guest sees the text in your main language rather than an empty line. Nothing disappears from the menu because one language is behind.

Why it matters for orders

Room service has no waiter to explain a dish. A guest who cannot read a line usually skips it or calls reception. A menu in their language answers those questions on the screen, which means fewer calls and fewer orders that come back as "this is not what I expected".

Which languages are available?

26 languages, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Polish. Free includes 3 of them, Pro includes all 26.

Who translates the menu?

Roomtray creates a machine translation when you save a dish. You can edit every line by hand, and your edits are kept. We recommend that a native speaker reads each language once.

What does the guest see if a translation is missing?

The text in your hotel's main language. The dish stays orderable, and you can add the missing translation later.

Can the guest change the language?

Yes. The language switch is at the top of the menu, and the choice is remembered on that phone for the stay.
